Why do you volunteer for Grampian Hospital Radio?

I'd been involved in radio before I moved to Aberdeen. Missing the fun and cameraderie I had with that I heard that Grampian Hospital Radio were seeking volunteers. So I went along for a look and here I am!

I suppose given the broad geographic spread of people who find themselves "in about" the Foresterhill Health complex for whatever reason/circumstances there's a part of me that thinks I deliver "a peerie bit" of home.

There have been all sorts of studies done over music being good for wellbeing and being part of the GHR team I can see why.

I am priveleged that complete strangers share little bits of information about themselves as to why a piece of music is special to them. If by talking about it or indeed playing their choice triggers a memory that transports them to a time or space that comforts them, then I can make that possible. It also means that I get to find about all sorts of music that is "new" to me.
